For Young Women
As a young person you may be struggling with relationships, social media, sexuality and making your way in the world. Or something may have happened to you that feels deeply shameful and frightening and is too big to overcome alone despite your best efforts to manage the feelings yourself.
If you are a parent reading this you may be feeling at a loss as to how to help and very worried, hoping to find someone that can take some of the emotional load and support your daughter through this difficult time.
I am an experienced youth counsellor. I can help with complex, specific issues such as self-harm and neurodiversity as well as many other issues affecting young people today.
You may be in the middle of a crisis but with my support and understanding I have found young people have the capacity to help themselves and make significant changes.
No one likes feeling vulnerable and uncomfortable and weak. But I really have found that it’s in those moments when I go there that there’s a kind of magic. - Emma Watson
Women and Heath
You may be feeling increasing pressure from work and family or putting pressure on yourself to be all that is expected and demanded of you. Are you feeling burdened and overwhelmed?
Depression in women is 1.5 times more common than in men globally and 80% of people living with an autoimmune disease are women (World Health Organization 2025)
Perhaps you know that things are out of balance but you don’t know what to do or how to change things for the better. Or you are living with a health condition or illness and are looking for some compassion and understanding.
I provide a supportive and insightful space where you can take some time to prioritise yourself. Together we can take your health and wellbeing seriously, enabling you to identify a life balance that works better for you.
These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them -Rumi
Loss & Bereavement
The loss of a beloved person, place or animal can be devastating. Life isn’t the same nor does it feel like it ever will be. The beloved is irreplaceable and deeply missed.
Or perhaps your bereavement may be more complicated, your feelings may not match with how you would expect or be expected to feel.
Your loss may be in death, or in a relationship breakdown or estrangement. Or it may be linked to a health condition. When you are grieving the life you once had, feelings of loneliness, isolation and disconnection can occur.
I can help you make sense of what you’ve been through. I will support you to process your experiences gently, and at your pace. As a person-centred counsellor, I find this approach very gentle but it can hold great power. It can enable you to liberate yourself from pain and find a path back home to yourself again.
Grief is not a disorder, a disease or a sign of weakness. It is an emotional, physical and spiritual necessity, the price you pay for love. The only cure for grief is to grieve - Earl Grollman
Spirituality
I am currently undertaking training as a spiritual accompanier. This is best described as an Anam Cara, the Gaelic term for soul friend. Somebody who can be alongside you, offering support and guidance whilst you explore and develop a deeper understanding of your own spirituality. Perhaps you have experienced a moment of spiritual significance, an awakening? Or you might have lost a significant being in your life and looking for some understanding and meaning beyond the material world. You may be feeling a calling towards something greater and would like to explore this more.
I am open to accompanying those of all faiths and beliefs without being rooted in any one spiritual or religious tradition. I am drawn to the practice of Reiki, The Divine Feminine and Earth - based spiritual practices which honour the sacredness and connection to the natural world. You may find me sea or river swimming, at a shamanic sweat lodge or cacao ceremony, drum journeying or at a breathwork class. It is in these places that I have the potential to connect to something greater than myself. This brings me a sense of wonder, awe and insight to my life.
I am interested in what connects us to – and what disconnects us from – our true nature as humans. How do we find connection in our lives (amidst all the haste and noise) and what spiritual practices bring us personal meaning and a sense of belonging?
I believe that once we begin to explore and identify our own unique spirituality, we have the potential to give birth to the best and higher version of ourselves and it is this self that we can offer to the world and bring into community with others.
Spirituality is not adopting more beliefs and assumptions but uncovering the best in you - Amit Ray
